UnMosqued is a documentary film that focuses on the need for reform in many of our mosques
in America. The film follows the story of a group of people who are unhappy with the status quo
at their mosque and decide to reform it by trying to get elected onto the leadership. The film
discusses women and the spaces they occupy, converts and the new struggles they face, mosque
stewardship, and some of the third spaces that have emerged in reaction to the situation in the
mosque. Based on statistics found in the Mosque Studies of 2011, UnMosqued aims to be a
conversation starter for communities that wish to better their mosques.
UnMosqued is the story of the mosque in North America. Through humble beginnings and
struggle, Islam has taken root in the West. However, the current climate ruthlessly destroys
irrelevant places. UnMosqued is a chance for us to rewrite the next chapters so that mosques
become true lighthouses. http://www.unmosquedfilm.com/ For the 3 minuteYouTube teaser go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2d-ySfbhILQ
